Writing a good bug report
You do not need to do any of this — write however you like and we will work it out. But if you want the fastest fix, these four things usually settle it in one round trip:
- Your device and OS version, for example iPhone 15, iOS 18.5 or Pixel 8, Android 15.
- The DayTimer version. Your phone knows it: on iPhone it is on the App Store page for DayTimer under Version History, and on Android it is in the system Settings under Apps → DayTimer. It is also the
appVersion line inside an exported backup.
- What you expected to happen, and what happened instead.
- Roughly what you did just before it — which screen you were on, and what you tapped or dragged.
If the trouble is with a plan or a day rather than the app in general, Settings → Backups → Export DayTimer backup gives you a JSON file you can attach. It contains your plans and history, nothing about you.
Common questions
- My reminders are not arriving.
- First check that notification permission is granted, in Settings → Reminders → Notification access. On Android, also confirm DayTimer is exempt from battery optimization — aggressive power saving, especially on Samsung and Xiaomi devices, can suppress scheduled alerts. On iPhone, check that Focus modes and Scheduled Summary are not holding DayTimer’s notifications back.
- Where is my data stored?
- Only on your device. DayTimer has no accounts and no cloud sync, so uninstalling the app deletes your plans and history permanently. Export a backup first if you want to keep them.
- How do I move my days to a new phone?
- On the old phone, Settings → Backups → Export DayTimer backup, and save or send yourself the file. On the new phone, Settings → Backups → Import templates and day history, choose the file, and pick whether to merge it with what is there or replace it. This works between iPhone and Android in either direction.
- I bought Supporter and it is not showing on my new phone.
- Open Settings → Support DayTimer and use Restore supporter purchase, signed in to the same store account you bought it with. Restoring only works within the same store: an App Store purchase does not carry across to Google Play, or the other way around, because the two stores hold separate purchase records.
- Can I get a refund?
- Purchases are handled by the store you bought from, so refund requests go through Apple or Google rather than through us. On iPhone, use reportaproblem.apple.com. On Android, use the order history in Google Play. Write to us anyway if something went wrong — we would like to know.
- Can I pause a block?
- No, and that one is on purpose. DayTimer is built on the idea that time marches forward: you can rearrange, stretch, insert, jump ahead, or restart, but the clock is never stopped. If something interrupts you, use Insert → right now — the interruption takes the minutes it really takes, and what you were doing resumes with its remaining time right behind it.
- How do I delete everything?
- Uninstalling DayTimer removes all of its local data from your device. Individual days can be deleted from Day history, and templates from the templates list.
On iPhone
- The Live Activity or Dynamic Island is not appearing.
- Live Activities must be allowed for DayTimer in the iOS Settings app, under DayTimer → Live Activities. The Dynamic Island itself only exists on the iPhone models that have one; on other iPhones the same information appears on the Lock Screen instead.
- The Home Screen widget looks grey or washed out.
- That is iOS 18’s tinted or dark Home Screen mode. In those modes iOS re-tints every widget itself, so DayTimer hands the widget back to system styling rather than fighting it. Switch the Home Screen back to its default appearance to see DayTimer’s own colors.
- The widget is showing an old block.
- Widgets refresh on the system’s schedule rather than on demand. Opening DayTimer brings it back in step immediately.
On Android
- Alerts arrive late.
- Exempt DayTimer from battery optimization in the system settings. On Android 12 and 12L specifically, DayTimer schedules inexact alarms by design, so boundary alerts there can drift by a few minutes; Android 13 and later fire exactly.
- The Live Update card is not showing.
- Live Updates need Android 16 or later, and the Live notification switch in Settings → Reminders turned on. The card retires itself when the block ends — if DayTimer has not been opened since, the next block falls back to its ordinary notification until you open the app again.
- The notification icon is a white square.
- That would be a bug, not your device — please write to us with your Android version and phone model.
